Golf Putting Basics: What To Know About Good Alignment
There are a number of things that new golfers struggle with from time to time. As a new player it is important for you to make sure that you perfect a few skills here and there and you will certainly have a good time playing. You can get so much more out of your game when you are aware of how to putt perfectly. The following are some of the most important simple tips that will help you learn to play like a professional.
Feet and shoulders
When you are about to make the putt, always ensure that your feet and your shoulders are aligned square to the putting line. This is a fundamental rule that you need to take to heart. There are a few instances when this rule does not apply, but in most cases it works just fine.
Position of your head
This might sound like as silly tip, but rest assured that the position of your head can significantly affect your style of play. Keep your head still. While at it, make sure that you keep your eyes still and focused too. You do not want a misalignment which will in effect end up causing a skewed shot.
Aim
Practice your aim as much as you can. For learners, try and focus your aim on a spot within the green, just a few steps from the hole. It is always a good idea to get your target as close as possible, if not hitting it on the spot. In order to help you perfect this, try and use the practice green and you will surely have an easier time making this work in your favor.
Determine the line
Some of the things that you have to consider when determining the line include the slope of the course, the speed of the green, the type of grass and so much more. All of these will help you determine the line when you are playing.
The grain
There are a number of things that you need to take into consideration when you are determining the line. Think of the green draining and the direction to which the grass is growing. In most cases you will find that a good number of the greens drain just in front of the bunker, while naturally, grass often grows in the direction of the setting of the sun.
